Boracay Day 2

Since we had been informed that stores in D’mall were quite expensive, we then opted to shop for our “pasalubongs” at D’Talipapa.

Surprisingly, almost all merchandise that were sold there were way cheaper.

Aside from buying stuff, we roamed around the island too. We took pictures and played frisbee.

We the sun was already out of sight, we have decided to go on a night swimming. A couple of games were played here and there. Of course, losers must suffer the consequences.

We lay down and watched the moon and the stars in the heavens. I can even describe it in own word, beautiful.

We ended the day with a couple of giggle juice, as usual.

DYG holds camp in South Cotabato

200 delegates from Dominican schools all over the country joined the Dominican Network Youth Group Summer Camp at the Notre - Dame Siena School of Marbel in South Cotabato.

Held last May 1 – 5, 2012, the activities were correlated with the theme Lambataan. “Kabataang Dominikano, Lambat ni Kristo.

According to Elijor Benjamin Rodil, DYG National Coordinator, the main objective of the camp is to promote the Dominican four pillars of prayer, study, fellowship and apostolate.  Also the event coincides with the chosen scriptural passages that will serve as the guides of our youth in their preparations for the Dominican Jubilee year in 2016.

The five day event followed a program wherein the delegates were able to work as a team and become a family that shares common goals, dreams and experiences together, says Venus Ae Kaiel Basa, DYG National Syndic. Each participant was assigned to a tribe with 9 – 12 others from different schools.

As Dominican Youth living a life of prayer, everyone attended the Holy Mass on a daily basis, celebrated by different Dominican Priests. In addition, the Via Lucis, Confession and Adoration, Ceremony of the Light and a worship concert was held.

On the other hand, the first activity was the Fish Net Dinner Party in which schools were given the privilege to showcase their talents and give an introduction about their school and its students.

A visit to Lake Sebu in South Cotabato was also scheduled. The facilitators, advisers, and the students were given the opportunity to experience a 200 – meter zipline ride over 5 waterfalls. In fact it is the highest zipline in the Philippines. They also went fishing in Punta Isla afterwards.

Mang Roberto a native T’boli fisherman was interviewed in front via interpreter in line with the theme. The participants were given a chance to question, understand and be familiar with the life of a fisherman and the culture of the T’boli (an indigenous tribe found in South Cotabato).

London Beach Resort in General Santos was another destination of the group. It was the perfect location for us to hold a mini team building seminar for everyone. In fact, the beach itself served as an energizer for the participants to be hyped up in playing competitive games and water activities, says Ma. Gabriella Sanchez, National Secretary of the DYG.

The Santa Cruzan and Prom Night culminated the summer camp.

A parade of school representatives along with the marching of the Drums and Bugle Corps highlighted the Santa Cruzan followed by the program proper of the Promenade.

Chosen students waltzed in the middle of the Gymnasium as a part of the Cotillion that started the mood for everyone to dance.

The Ritual of Goodbye concluded the summer camp. Lead by Nonito Tuazon, everyone chose a partner to share the the final goodbyes with.

Based from the comments of the delegates, the five day summer camp in Marbel, South Cotabato was indeed a success.

As of now, the DYG Core team is already planning for its next big step in the life of the youth.
